This week was absolutely crazy! Ha-ha. Almost as if it were a . . full moon . . all week! The kids were rowdy as ever and they were full of drama. My AVID kids are so wonderful and have great manners, so when I say rowdy, they weren't rude, they were just full of ridiculous amounts of energy! Middle schoolers are a crazy group and this week, I had my first "bad" experience with one of my 8th graders. She "thought out loud" and called me a not-so-nice name and well, it wasn't fun. The odd thing about her calling me a name was that the situation had to do with another student and she just got herself involved by showing her true colors? She sort of just threw herself under the bus if that makes sense. I, as well as my supervisor and administration are still dealing with it. It happened on Tuesday, so today was just awkward. The funny thing that came out of this is that my other students came to my defense in ways that I never expected. They were so great about the situation and so comforting knowing that I was upset by this and it just made me appreciate them even more! Love those crazy kids. Ha-ha. This is an experience that has made me realize that I cannot take everything they say to me to heart, but having had this happen to me, I am now better prepared for this type of situation and many other situations. It's going to be a wild adventure, but I am ready for it and it will be so worth it in the end!
